Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz own a breathtaking $34 million property that faces the Pacific Ocean
|Designed in 2007 by San Diego-based architect Wallace E. Cunningham, the curved glass-and-concrete, cantilevered structure takes advantage of the spectacular landscape.
The eye-catching structure takes its name from the local natural monument of Razor Point.
All the photos of the home below were taken prior to the couple’s purchase. In the video, you can see how they’ve redone the rooms.

Dean’s dream
Dean had long loved the sculptural structure, and he even used the Razor House as his phone’s screen saver for eight years, according to Architectural Digest. The stars aligned for him to take the keys a couple of years ago.
After the couple purchased the property, they turned to the interior designer Kelly Behun to create the place that they now like to call “Dreamland.”
The showstopper is a place that brings together their art, their family, and their music. Dean’s former screen saver has now become his reality.

New owner, new look
Inside, the 1,075 sqm plan features six bedrooms and seven bathrooms. With the frameless glass throughout, almost every room in the house has views of the Pacific Ocean.
One of the abode’s key highlights is the spectacular circular living room.
“There is something about the circle that feels so good,” Keys says.
“Especially with the view and the water. It feels so calming and peaceful.”
The couple have filled the stunning space with creamy, curved sofas looking out to the water.
The designer kept ostentation to a minimum.

“’The interiors don’t in any way shout; they’re simple and timeless,’” Behun told Architectural Digest.
“It was never going to be about trying to upstage the natural surroundings, the architecture, or the art.”
A sleek kitchen offers high-end appliances and dark wood cabinetry opening on the dining area.
Keys, an acclaimed Grammy award-winner, calls this one of the couple’s “favourite places in the house.”
The soft, textured seats around the dining table are a gathering spot for game nights.
“We love hanging out here,” Keys says.
The kitchen island and counter space also serve as a casual place to grab a bite.

A large family room can serve multiple purposes. Couches and a TV create a comfortable hangout spot.
Keys and Dean have added a formal dining table for holiday meals. They can also open up the glass doors and eat at the outside dining area, or jump in the pool.
Dean calls it “a super fun room.”
Outside, the large terraces accommodate a rooftop for entertaining and a barbecue area, as well as a gleaming infinity pool.
The library is now the piano room, where the whole family will come by and tickle the keys. Built-in shelves feature pieces from their extensive art collection, which fills the house.
The property also comes with a home theatre, detached guesthouse, and a tunnel leading to a four-car garage.

‘Iron Man’ inspiration
Rumour has it that the iconic, cliffside design served as inspiration for the fictional home of Tony Stark in the Marvel movie “Iron Man.”
While no superheroes have called the place home, the fictional inventor might appreciate one part of the house.
“Kids that love Iron Man always come by and yell ‘that’s the Iron Man house’ — sometimes not only kids, grown ups too,” Keys says.

A sleek underground lair with a garage and lounge is now the place Dean has his home recording studio.
Keys will soon launch her eighth album, “Keys.” Dean has produced hit singles for artists including Beyoncé, Jay-Z, and Kanye West.
